Former Grosse Pointe, Wayne County, Michigan, resident Kathryn "Kay" Bush Baird died July 7, 2008, in The Woodlands, Spring, Montogemery Co., Texas.
She was the daughter of Lewis D. Bush and Louise Miles Bush and earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from Wayne State University. She also did graduate work at the University of Michigan.
Mrs. Baird was a directing teacher for the students in The College of Education at Wayne State University and an administrator in the Detroit Public Schools for 38 years.
She was a member of the Grosse Pointe Memorial Church and The Woodlands Presbyterian Church in Texas.
Mrs. Baird enjoyed sports, music, theater, gardening, duplicate bridge and extensive traveling.
Her professional and personal interests led to her involvement in many organizations including The English Speaking Union, The Grosse Pointe Symphony Association, The Fine Arts Club, The Detroit Theater Arts Club, Circle Dramatique Club, The Friends of The Grosse Pointe Public Library, The Grosse Pointe Historical Society, The Founders Society of The Detroit Institute of Arts, The Grosse Pointe Cinema League and The Economic Club of Detroit.
She also was a member of The Grand Marais Garden Club, The Grosse Pointe Book Club, The Woodlands Ladies Club and The Friends of the Woodlands Public Library.
She was a past president of The Detroit Boat Club Women's Committee.
Mrs. Baird was survived by her daughter, Kathy Wilson; son-in-law, Barrie Wilson; and grandson, David Baird Wilson.
She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, William Winter Baird, on Aug. 26, 2001 in Texas; and by her brothers, J. Ross Bush and Milton W. Bush.
Interment: Columbarium of The Houston National Cemetery with her husband.
