Elizabeth Scott Bush, 77, of Elm Mott, passed away Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18, at New Zion Baptist Church, 3572 Mazanec Rd., in Elm Mott, with the Rev. Darrell Abercrombie as officiant. Burial will follow at Elm Mott Cemetery.
Elizabeth, the youngest of 11 children, was born in Gholson, Texas, to the late Arthur and Nannie Scott. She was baptized in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Gholson. She found her calling in the Dietary field working for Hillcrest Baptist Hospital for 17 years. Elizabeth was united in holy matrimony to Noah John "N.J." Bush on Sept. 11, 1949. Upon marriage, she joined New Zion Baptist Church of Elm Mott, where she maintained membership giving many years of dedicated service. She served as a choir member, deaconess and member of the mission board. The church honored her with special recognition in 2010 for her primary service as financial secretary for over 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Georgia Powell, Louis Jackson, Nettie Fields, and Cecil Clater; brothers, Frederick Scott, Edward Scott, Arthur Scott Jr., N.J. Scott, and Hercil Scott; and grandchildren, Damon Williams and Noah Williams.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 62 years, N.J. Bush; their children, Gwen Miles, Carolyn Williams, John Wayne Bush, Andrea Bush, and Sarah Bush; eight grandchildren; her loving sister, Freddie Duffey; "adopted" daughter, Eddie Tucker; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law; and other family and friends.
