Norma Lorene Ellis Bush, 88, died at 12:40 a.m. Sunday, April 6, 2008, at Rosewalk Village Nursing Home.
Born Dec. 4, 1919, in Daviess County, Washington, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Earl Sr. and Lillie Banta Ellis, and a 1938 graduate of Washington High School.
On Jan. 20, 1940, she married Marvin Paul Bush in Washington. They came to the Lafayette area in 1940 and moved to the Dayton area in 1950, where they lived for more than 50 years. He retired from Alcoa in 1975, and preceded her in death March 23, 2000.
Mrs. Bush was a homemaker, and at one time, was a receptionist with the Painters & Decorators Union.
She was an active member of Memorial Presbyterian Church of Dayton, where she was an elder, a deacon, helped with Bible school and was a member of Circle 1. She was the recipient of the "Peacekeeper" award from the church. She also was a member of the Dayton Mothers Club and the Sheffield Township Home Economics Club for many years. She enjoyed helping with 4-H and she liked to cook.
Survivors include two children, Sandy Reed (husband: Gene) of Lafayette, and Ronald Bush (wife: Trish) of Plant City, Fla.; and two sisters, Ruth Ross of Mishawaka and Jeanne Baker of Lakeland, Fla.
Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, Jeff Bush (Jessica), Bonnie Winstead and Janet Billingsley (Nick), all of Lafayette, and Jackie Pritchett of Tempe, AZ; 6 great-grandchildren, Jaclyn and Nicholas Bush, Austin Brown, Peyton and Parker Libhart and Garrett Pritchett; 2 stepgranddaughters, Wendy Summerfield (Scott) and Tricia Schuessler (Ron) and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, a sister and an infant son, Jerry Leroy Bush, who died at birth in 1941. She was always there to help everyone whenever or wherever she was needed. One of her greatest joys was to be able to help someone, and she enjoyed neighboring with her friends.
