Charles was living in Osage, KS when he entered the service and was a member of Battery C, 555th Field Artillery Battalion, 5th Infantry Regimental Combat Team.
He was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the enemy near Kumsong, North Korea on July 14, 1953 and was presumed dead on July 15, 1954.
His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
Private First Class Busch was awarded the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
