from La Porte Chronicle, January 21, 1897:
Miss Maggie Busch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. R. Busch of this city and Mr. Hance Baker, also of this city, were married at the residence of the bride's parents last evening by Rev. P. E. Nicholson. The wedding was a quite one, only relatives and a few personal friends being present.
From La Porte Chronicle November 1, 1906:
Hope and fruition turned into sorrow and despair within the short period of a day, expresses the sad visitation into the home of Mr. And Mrs. Hance Baker. An infant arrived the first of the week, to bless the home just for a day, and have its remains laid to rest. The sorrowful parents have the warmest sympathies of friends and neighbors. Mrs. Baker's physical condition was reported to be serious for a time, but she is improving and her friends will be glad to know that her complete recovery from her illness, the primary cause of which was pleurisy, is but a matter of a few days.
