Beatrice Kelley Busby, formerly of Oklahoma City, passed away after a short illness on December 27, 1994 in Starkville, Mississippi. Mrs. Busby was born in Springfield, Missouri on January 25, 1909 to Thomas B. Kelley and Leatha M. Johnson Kelley. The family moved to Oklahoma City shortly thereafter.
Mrs. Busby graduated from Central High School in 1926 and attended Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, where she took an active part in campus life. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. In 1934, she married Ballard Gregg Busby. They remained a devoted and loving couple for 37 years until Colonel Busby's death in 1971. Throughout these years, Mrs. Busby was an active member of the Oklahoma City community. She was a member of a number of clubs and service organizations including Mu Theta Gamma Sorority, Tala Book Club and Calendala Garden Club.
She retired in 1974 from the administrative staff of Classen High School after 15 years of service. In 1987, following heart surgery, Mrs. Busby moved to Gainesville, Florida to live with her daughter. The family subsequently moved to Starkville, Mississippi. Mrs. Busby was a lifelong member of Olivet Baptist Church, a church that her parents helped to establish. For many years, she served Olivet as secretary for the Sunday School.
Preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Mrs. Busby is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kaye and Sherman F. "Bud" Pasley of Starkville, Mississippi; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Gregg and Janice Lee; and two great grandchildren, Christopher Gregg and Alexandra Elizabeth, all of Raleigh, North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 31, 1994 at Guardian Midtown Chapel with entombment in Rose Hill Abbey.
