She was the daughter of Ora and Charlotte Lucas Burwell. As a graduate of Chapmansville High School, WV and Concord University, WV, she was an educator for 36 years in WV and 10 years in GA. She was an active member of the Rockdale Baptist Church where she was involved in Sunday School and the joyful Senior Saints Choir.
