Funeral Services Held Friday For Former Resident
Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Atchison, Tulsa, a former Carnegie resident and mother of Mrs. Alice Schlegel, were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the local First Christian church with Rev. Larry Becker, First Methodist church pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Carnegie cemetery with Pitcher Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Atchison died Wednesday, November 13 in a Tulsa hospital.
Emma L. Burton was born December 30, 1871, near Clyde City, Kansas, to Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Burton. She was married to Joe M. Atchison March 2, 1889, in the Christian church at Neosha Falls, Kans. Four children were born to them. Her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Ella Lenderman, and a son, William, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Atchison made her home here for several years with her daughter, Mrs. Schlegel until they moved to Tulsa about a year ago. Mrs. Schlegel continued to care for her mother in Tulsa.
She is survived by Mrs. Schlegel and one son, Robert L. of Tulsa; eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
