Funeral services for Edna Bowers of El Reno were held Friday, May 8 at Bible Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Heupel and Rev. Brian Trull officiating. Burial was in the El Reno Cemetery. Services were under direction of Wilson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bowers died May 5, 2009, at Parkview Hospital. She was born Feb. 18, 1916, on a farm southwest of Minco to her parents, Gladys (Hubletz) and George Burton. Edna came to El Reno when she was 9 years old and attended El Reno Public Schools. She worked at Parkview Hospital as the dietary supervisor for over 30 years. Edna was a member of Bible Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Edmond Bowers Sr.; sisters, Margaret Jones and Jo Eva Sand; a brother, Garold Burton; and grandchildren, William Ted McCray and Elizabeth Ann Bowers.
Survivors include her daughter, Lorena McCray and husband, Bill of Calumet; her son, John Edmond Bowers Jr. and wife, Fe of El Reno; sister-in-law, Phyllis Burton of Roswell, N.M.; grandchildren, Jerri Heupel and husband, Danny of Wheaton, Mo., Roger Bowers and wife, Neletta, and Bob McCray and wife, Annette, all of El Reno, Tammy Haller and husband, George of Plano, Texas, Kyle McCray and wife, Marquita of Geary, and Amanda Edgemon and husband, Greg of El Reno; great-grandchildren, Brandon Heupel and wife, Chassidy of Granby, Mo., Cassie Rose of Anchorage, Alaska, Emily Crowell and husband, Drew of Frisco, Texas, George Haller with the U.S. Navy, Gracie Haller of Plano, Texas, Cody McCray and wife, Jennifer of El Reno, Abby Blagg and husband, Tanner of El Reno, Dustin Bowers and Chelsea Bowers, both of El Reno, Kayla McCray of Geary, Dean Glasscock, Kayla Seiger and Ben Seiger, all of El Reno; great-great-grandchildren, Payton Blagg of El Reno and Heyley and Hannah Heupel of Granby, Mo.; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins and numerous friends.
