Shirley May Burton Baker age 75 of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 11:01 p.m. Saturday, Sept 22, 2012 in her residence
Born May 12, 1937 in Moberly, Missouri a daughter of Rev. Waldo M. and Lorreta Robinson Burton, Shirley was united in marriage with Robert Lee Baker on June 4, 1955 in Ewing, Missouri; he preceded her in death on October 20, 1989
Shirley was a homemaker. She had also worked for House of Flowers in Mt. Sterling for several years and owned and operated Shirley Baker Tax Service.
She attended Quincy, Illinois schools.
Mrs. Baker was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mt. Sterling.
She enjoyed reading, playing cards, cooking and listening to her children play music, but her greatest joy was the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren
Survivors include two children:
Sherry (Dennis) Michael of Jericho Springs, Missouri
Jon (Debra) of Timewell, Illinois
Sharon Baker of Mt. Sterling
She is also survive by 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and her many friends
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Mickey Lee Baker and her sister, Norma Jean Burton Taute Meleney
Services 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 26, 2012 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling; Rev. Dale Gadberry officiating
Burial will be in the Hersman Cemetery
Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the funeral home
