Hettie Burton Colvard, 98, of Pine Bluff, formerly of Charleston, died Wednesday, April 24, 2002, in Pine Bluff. She was a retired teacher and taught bookkeeping, shorthand and typing in Charleston High School and grade school in Concord, Calif., retiring after 49 years of teaching, a 50-year member of the Eastern Star and past matron and a member of First United Methodist Church of Pine Bluff. She was the widow of Eugene Colvard. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston with burial at Nixon Cemetery in Charleston. She is survived by a sister, Vivian Hinkle Dillea of North Hollywood, Calif.; four grandchildren, Dianna Colvard Voyles and Edward Eugene Colvard, both of Wynne, Donnie Ray Colvard of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Denise Colvard Davis of Woodlawn; seven great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law and caregiver, Ethel Buckner Colvard of Pine Bluff. The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O.
