A beloved kindergarten teacher, Martha was a pioneer in bowling, having fallen in love with the sport at a young age. She became a passionate TNBA advocate and a powerful force in encouraging African-Americans to take up bowling for the next five decades. She would become the first black woman delegate to the WIBC annual meeting, the only black woman among the founders of the Virginia Women's B.A., and she served as a women's and youth association leader for decades. Martha was inducted into the USBC Hall of Fame posthumously in honor of her service to the sport of bowling.
