Douglas Elliot Burt, 42, of St. Charles, MO passed away on Friday, June 13, 2014 at SSM St. Joseph West Hospital in Lake St. Louis, MO after a hard fought battle with cancer. Elliot was born on September 10, 1971 in Shreveport, LA to Sheila Harkey and Doug Burt. He was employed with West Star Aviation of Alton, IL. Elliot proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps as a Corporal from 1994 to 1998 and even after his honorable discharge, he remained a true Marine. Elliot is preceded in death by his father, paternal grandparents Charles M. Burt and Martha Johnson Burt and maternal grandfather Thomas Gilbert Harkey. He was the devoted husband of Tanya Wilson Burt; loving father of Ethan and Macie Burt all of St. Charles, MO; dear son of Sheila Harkey and grandson of Peggy Harkey both of Shreveport, LA. Elliot is also survived by his step-mother Mary Jane Vanzandt of Ruston, LA, his parents in-law Don and Brenda Wilson of Malone, FL, brother in-law Travis (Jesaca) Wilson of Navarre, FL, sister in-law Teresa (COL. Christopher) Cassibry of Ft. Polk, LA, aunts and uncles Gary (Karen) Burt of Shreveport, LA, Tom (Sherry) Harkey of Shreveport, LA and Linda Burt of Denham Springs, LA. Elliot was also a dear cousin, nephew, uncle and friend to many and will be missed dearly by all. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 17, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Baue Funeral and Memorial Center, 3950 West Clay Street, St. Charles, MO 63301 and on Friday, June 20, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Osborn Funeral Home, 3631 Southern Ave., Shreveport, LA 71104. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 10:00 at Osborn Funeral Home and interment in Forest Park Cemetery in Shreveport. Pallbearers are Brady Harkey, Denny Harkey, Travis Wilson, Jack Stallcup, Ricky Knight, Scott Lemons, Jason Wilkerson and Jeremy Burt. Honorary pallbearers are COL. Christopher Cassibry, Ryan Slaughter, Jamey Burt and Chuck Hipsher. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors Project,
