Lieutenant Colonel Dave Burrow was the baby of his family of 4 brothers and 4 sisters. His mother passed when he was four, and he moved to live with his sister Annie Maude and her husband. "Big Poppa" Thomas Dye Burrow married Lillian Lea not long after, and he returned to the family home and his father. A disastrous marriage that ended in divorce, Thomas moved to a smaller home in Byhalia where he and Dave and Hank (Isom) lived until the sons joined the military.

Dave met Mary Sue Milam on a blind date while she worked at MLGW. A series of love letters and dates led to marriage after he returned from WW2. They married in January 1947, and Myra Sue was born Dec 22, 1947. David "Mack" was born in 1952. Dave and Sue bought property with Hank and built a home together, farming dairy cows and crops. He stayed in the Army Air Corps then Air Force as reserve till his retirement in the late 1960s. He was a member of the Byhalia United Methodist Church.
