Carol McGuffin Burroughs

Carol McGuffin Burroughs, a wonderful mother to her two children and exemplary grandmother died before sunrise on Monday, July 20, 2009. Her daughter and best friend were by her side.

Carol was born February 16, 1936, to Eugene and Helen McGuffin in Boise, Idaho. She attended the University of Idaho where she was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. As a lifelong Idahoan, she was involved in many organizations such as Junior League, Marionettes at the Idaho Historical Museum and volunteering at a local school. She was a Real Estate agent in the valley for years. She married Ham Burroughs and they were later divorced.

She leaves her two children, Jennifer Burroughs McEntee and John Burroughs, as well as her son-in-law, Terry McEntee and daughter -in-law, Elizabeth Burroughs, whom she loved as her own. Her pride and joy were her four grandchildren, Ryan and Lauren McEntee (Boise) and Reed and Jake Burroughs (Chandler, AZ). They knew her as Muma and loved her dearly. She is also survived by her sister Joanne Ayres and bother-in-law Bob Ayers, (Walnut Creek, CA) their children, Shannon, Bobby and John, their children and several cousins and their families.

She adored her dear cousin, Frank Stockdale, who was like a brother to her, and his wife Betsy (Woodside, CA). She was blessed with the lifelong friendship of Suzee Zimmerman, the best friend a person could have. She was also grateful for her extended family, the McEntee's.

Carol most enjoyed time spent with family and friends in McCall, tending to her flowers and gardens, and rarely missed her grandchildren's sporting events. Carol loved to travel, from "Willy's" beach on Maui to the rolling hills of Tuscany; she enjoyed their beauty but mostly the company she was with. Her beloved dog, Rosie, was always at her side. Muma was the most generous and giving person, with an amazing sense of style. Everyone was always welcome, including any animals.

A memorial services will be held at 4:30 pm, Sunday, July 26, 2009 at The Bishop House, 2420 Old Penitentiary Rd. Arrangements are under the direction of Cloverdale Funeral Home.

Donations in Carol's honor may be sent to: McPaws, P.O. Box 1375, McCall, Idaho 83638 or MSTI, 190 E. Bannock St., Boise, Idaho 83712.
