Birth: 1872
Ontario, Canada
Death: Apr. 4, 1900
Northern Cape, South Africa

Son of Dr. Horatio Charles Burritt and Maria Harriet (Rogers) Burritt.

Brother of Charles Arthur Burritt, Clarence James Burritt, Florence Rogers Burritt, Frederick Walter Burritt, David McGregor Burritt, Georgia Maria Burritt, and Horace Wellesley Burritt.

He served from 1891-1896 as a constable with Canada's North-West Mounted Police (now known as the Royal Canadian Mounted Police), and later (in Peterboro, ON) he was commissioned a 2nd lieutenant in the Prince of Wales Dragoons.

He wished to join a Canadian regiment engaged in the Second Boer War. The commission he was promised was not forthcoming, so he departed for England on his own and enlisted as a trooper in the 12th Lancers.

During the Second Boer War, he participated in the relief of Kimblerley. Tragically, he passed away due to typhoid fever. Recipient of the Queen's South Africa Medal.

Requiescat in pace.
