Sue Workman Burris

Sue Workman Burris, 74, of Athens, died Wednesday morning, June 23, 2010, at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga.

A native of Fulton, Ky., and a longtime McMinn County resident, she was a daughter of the late Clifton and Laverne Smith Workman. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her husband, Charles "Fudd" Burris of Athens, to whom she was married for 55 years; one son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Ruthie Burris of Athens; two granddaughters, who were the joy of her life, Brittanye and Kourtney Burris, both of Athens; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby and Kathy Workman of Johnson City, and Cliff and Sherry Workman of Athens; one special uncle, Calvin D. Green of Athens; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Glenn and Kat Moses of Athens.

Funeral services will be 7:30 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Smith Funeral & Cremation Service with the Rev. Oran Creasman officiating. Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday in McMinn Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Glenn Moses, Brandon Armstrong, Jeff Withrow, Russ Taylor, Brent Hipps and John Benson. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Coleman, Junior Yarbrough and Tommy Nation.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
