Alvin E. Burrell, 86, of Yellowbird Branch died October 28, 2010 at Skyland Care Center. A native and life long resident of Jackson County, he was the son of the late General and Betty Nicholson Burrell. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Lillian Crisp Burrell in 2009.
Surviving are a daughter, Jennifer Morgan of Dillsboro; three sons, Donnie, Johnny and Tommy Burrell all of Sylva, NC; two sisters, Hettie McManus of Matthews, NC and Carrie Whitley of Apex, NC; one brother, Conrad Burrell of Sylva. NC; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, October 31, 2010 in the chapel of Melton Funeral Home with Reverend Dennis Burrell officiating. Burial will follow at Parris Cemetery. Brian Morgan, Shane Burrell, Ryan Burrell, Dakota Burrell, Cary Gunter and Alvin Carter will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
