John was a US Air Force Veteran. He married Marcella Phyllis Scott in Elkhart, Indiana on February 16, 1951; she died November 20, 2006. He worked for Markhon in Wabash 42 years retiring in 1994. John was a member of the Wabash American Legion Post 15, and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed collecting coins, fishing, gardening, playing pinochle, and attending gun shows.
He is survived by 2 children, John S. (Lori Arnett) Burnsworth of Wabash, Gaye (Mike) Kerschner of Carmel, Indiana, 3 grandchildren, Jordan Burnsworth of Wabash, Jenna Kerschner and Adam Kerschner, both of Carmel, 2 brothers, Bill Burnsworth and Thomas (Judy) Burnsworth, both of Lagro, and his sister, Betty (Jack) Shaffer of Gas City, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and 3 sisters.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am Monday, February 17, 2014 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 2-6 pm Sunday, at the funeral home. Preferred memorial is Animal Shelter of Wabash County.
