MAUREEN B. BURNS DOMENICK, 75, of HAZLET, died Sunday, March 16, at St. Barnabas Hospice at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. She was a registered nurse and social worker for the Monmouth County Board of Social Services for 25 years, before retiring in 2000. At the same time she was a member of the Hazlet Township Board of Health, before retiring after 25 years. She sang at Carnegie Hall for the Stuart Smith Singers; was a social worker for and co-founder of Abyss HIV Support Group. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and an avid Giants fan. She received her B.A. from Jersey City College and her RN from the Hackensack University Medical Center RN Program. She lived in Hazlet for more than 50 years, and was previously from Harrington Park. She was born in Jersey City.

She was preceded in death by her son, William, in 2001. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Patti and Rocky Wehrle of Leonardo; daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and Drew Mateffy of Middletown; daughter, Rita DeVivo and her fiance, Anthony Alessi Jr. of Hazlet; son, Tommy Domenick of Hazlet; grandchildren, Tara Wehrle, Bruce Wehrle, PFC Thomas Bayers, Caitlin Bayers, Julie DeVivo, and Timmy Domenick; great-grandchildren, David and John; ex-husband, William Domenick Jr. of Toms River; sister, Rita Hoffman of Flordia; and a brother, Donald Burns of California.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. Funeral services are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with a funeral liturgy to be offered at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann's R.C. Church, Carr Avenue, Keansburg. Entombment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial donations can be made to Wellness Community at Northern Jersey Shore, Cancer Support, Education and Hope, 613 Hope Road, Victoria Commons, Eatontown, New Jersey 07724.
