Funeral services were conducted at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning for Mrs. Mary Burns, 77, widow of Walter Burns, at St. Patrick's church, Brasher Falls. Rev. John A. Cotter sang the requiem mass. Mrs. Burns passed away in Syracuse, Friday, Dec. 22, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John (Anna) Cusick, where she had been living for the past ten years. She was born in Brasher, Dec. 24, 1867, a daughter of Peter and Julia Murphy. After her marriage to Walter Burns, they lived on a farm near Helena, where four sons sons and four daughters were born to them. Three sons, James, Henry and Walter Burns all died in Syracuse. Surviving besides the daughter, Mrs. Cusick, are three daughters, Mrs. Margaret Welch and Mrs. (Catherine) Stack of Syracuse; Mrs. Merrill (Nellie) Dumers of Rome, and a son, Francis Burns, who resides on the home farm near Helena. Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Peter (Catherine) Normile of Brasher Falls and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Interment was made in St. Patrick's cemetery, in the family lot.
