W.W.'s obituary appeared in the Texarkana Gazette, 16 Jul 2004 and in the The Bakersfield Californian on 13 Jul 2004.

Woodrow Wilson Burns went by the nickname W.W. He was born in New Boston, Bowie County, Texas. On 23 Sep 1936, Woodrow married Eunice in Bowie County, Texas. W.W. and Eunice had two sons: Woodrow Leonard and Marvin Wilson.

In 1956 W. W. and his family moved from New Boston, Texas to Shafter, California. In California, W. W. worked for K Malofy & Son until his retirement. W. W. and Eunice moved to Bakersfield, California in March of 1997. W. W. died in Bakersfield.

The California obit notes that as a young man, W. W. enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is also noted as an avid gardener with gardens usually resembling small farms. He was a bit of a designer too. The obit notes that W. W. often modified tools to make them more useful.

W. W. is described as having an engaging sense of humor and an impeccable work ethic. The California obit says W. W. truly was a man of integrity who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. In addition, the obit notes that W. W. was a member of the Oildale Church of Christ, Bakersfield, California.

The obits list the following survivors: his wife, Eunice; two sons, Woodrow Leonard Burns of McKittrick, Calif., and Marvin W. Burns of Bakersfield; three brothers, Homer Burns, Henry Burns and Dow Burns of New Boston; four sisters, Mary Bostian of Simms, Texas, Marie Brown of Diana, Texas, Dorothy Smith of Malta, Texas, and Rosie Shirley of Texarkana; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Services for W. W. in California were at Oildale Church of Christ, with the Minister David Garner and Elder Ellery Litterell officiating.

Services for W. W. in Texas were at Bates-Rolf Funeral Home with Norman Hooten officiating. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery. The family gathered at the Homer Burns residence, 1594 Highway 98, New Boston.
