James Charles “Chick” Burns 63,of Texarkana, Ark died Friday May 14,2004 in a local nursing home. Mr. Burns was born November 8,1940 in Waldo, Ark. He was retired from North American Tank Car Co. and Gifford Hill Cement Co., a former owner of Cross Roads Café and a member of Kendrick Chapel Church, Waldo. He was preceaded in death by one son, James P. Johnson. Survivors include two grandchildren, Marcale Johnson of Texarkana; and Lorelle Johnson of Dallas;one great-grandchild, Jordan Johnson of Atlanta, Texas; three sisters, Lena Owens and Ludie Jackson of Texarkana; and JoRene Wilson Edwards of Sacramento; two brothers, Herman James Wilson and Jessie Lee Wilson of Milwaukee, Wis; his former wife, Ethel Burns of Texarkana; and a
number of other relatives. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Lyles Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lee Nard Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family will be at 324 Charles St., Texarkana, Ark. Texarkana Daily Gazette, May 21,2004.
