"SEARCY - Mrs. Eurice Marceil (Thompson) Burns, loving wife and mother, passed away in Little Rock on May 7th, 2007, at the age of 93. A longtime resident of Searcy, Arkansas, she was the widow of Robert Lee Burns, Sr. Mrs. Burns was a member of the First Baptist Church in Searcy.
"Mrs. Burns was born in Enola, Arkansas, on March 11th, 1914, to Charles and Bessie Bryant Thompson. She graduated from Conway High School, Class of 1932-33 and Arkansas State Teachers College in 1937. She married Mr. Burns on March 19th, 1938. Mrs. Burns was a teacher of Home Economics in the Arkansas public schools for more than 20 years, having taught in Guy, Cherry Hill, Pangburn and Judsonia. She was a Charter Member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Alpha Xi Chapter, a women's educators organization, and served as Chapter president.
"Mrs. Burns is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers, Lloyd Thompson and Lawrence Weldon Thompson. She is survived by her brother, Bruce Bryant Thompson of Oklahoma City; her children, son Robert Lee Burns, Jr. of Little Rock and daughter Alice Ann Burns of Phoenix, Arizona; grandsons, Steven, Robert and Jackson; and four great grandchildren.
