Mrs. Evelyn Nesbitt Burns, 54, died at Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital Saturday, April 13, after a long illness. She was the wife of Ben Burns, field supervisor for the Missouri Divison of Employment Security.
She was born at Steele November 30, 1913, the daughter of the late Pink and Hattie Barker Biggart and had lived in this city for around 30 years. She was a member of the Methodist Church and active in church work as long as her health permitted.
Services were held Monday afternoon at Eastwood Memorial Methodist Church with the Rev. Marvin Niblack, assisted by Rev. Charles Miller of Steele, officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery at Steele with Dean Funeral Home in charge.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Kay Quells of Centerville, Mass., Mrs. Rebecca Shafer of Shawnee Mission, Kans., Mrs. Bonnie Partridge of Little Rock, Ark. and Miss Susan Burns of the home; Also two half-sisters, Mrs. Leon Burns of Blytheville and Mrs. Lowell Lindsey of Rector, Ark.
