BOSSIER CITY, LA – Services for Cliff Carroll Burnham, Sr. will be held on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Cleve Cyrus officiating. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 26, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Cliff was born October 21, 1923, in Haynesville, LA. He was 89 years old at the time of his death. He was the son of James Carl and Mary McCloud Burnham. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II as a Tec 4 Sergeant and was assigned to the HQ Company of the 1st Infantry of the 6th Division. He was honorably discharged in 1946 with the following decorations: Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with 3 Bronze Stars and 1 Bronze Arrowhead, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, and World War II Victory Medal.
After the war, he married the love of his life Marguerite S. Martinez, of Zwolle, LA. He was a resident of Bossier City for 62 years and was a member of VFW Post #4588.
Cliff was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Margie, by his parents, James C. and Mary M. Burnham, Brothers Carl, Cris, and Clint Burnham, Sisters Cecil Dupree and Carolyn Pollard, and Stepson, Larry Aaron.
He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his children, Jim Burnham and wife Tina, of Bossier City, LA; Cliff C. Burnham, Jr., of Bossier City, LA; Pat C. Burnham and wife Myrtis, of Baton Rouge, LA; Mike G. Burnham and wife Cathi, of Bossier City, LA. He was the adored grandfather to Amanda Burnham Porter, Brent Burnham, Cody Burnham, Brad Anderson, Brittney Anderson, Debbra Poque, Katrina Johnson, Frank Johnson and thirteen great grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters Cynthia Franklin and Clair Pearce as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
