MIDLAND -- Charlie Franklin Burnette, 12591 Big Lick Rd., Stanfield, died Thursday, October 16, 2008, at 11:40 am at his home. He was born June 21, 1926, in Monroe in Union County, NC.

Visitation will be from 6-8pm Saturday, October 18, at Hartsell Funeral Home-Midland. The funeral service will be held at 2pm Sunday, October 19, at Love's Chapel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Anthony Moore and the Rev. Jim Allred officiating. The body will lie in state 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be at Love's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Stanfield, NC.

He was a Supervisor with the N.C. Department of Transportation. The family will meet at the home of Mr. Burnette. He was a member of Love's Chapel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include wife Pearl Gean (Thomas) Burnette of Stanfield; son Terry Burnette and wife Pansy of Midland, NC; daughter Eva Gean Thomas and husband Dwain of Locust, NC; grandchildren Dusty Burnette and Josh and Kevin Thomas; brother Ikey Burnette of Locust, NC; brother Ted Burnette of Midland, NC; brother John Burnette of Oakboro, NC; brother Floyd Burnette of Concord, NC; brother Wade Burnette of Peachland, NC; sister Lula Nance of Stanfield, NC; sister Faye Morgan of Locust, NC; sister Mary Chaney of Marshville, NC; sister Ann Simpson of Concord, NC; sister Judy Eudy of Concord, NC.

He was preceded in death by father Flecus Alexander Burnette; mother Hattie (Simpson) Burnette; infant son Grady Burnette; brother Clarence Burnette.
