Absalom was the son of John H & Mary (Morgan) Burnett of Va. Absalom Burnett, who served as a private in the Company commanded by Captain Gannaway in the 13th regiment of Kentucky commanded by General John Thomas in the War of 1812; he volunteered in the state of Kentucky at Leitchfield on the 1st of November 1814. He married Elsie Guy in 1833 and to them were born 4 children: Althea Jane, James A, Francis Marion & Elizabeth. Married four times, 3rd wife was Elthey Guy, 4th was Elizabeth Lloyd Bagby, 1st & 2nd unknown. 3 sons by his 1st wife: Martin Luther, John M & Zachariah Milton Burnett
