SAN ANGELO — Leona Burleson Baker, 71, died Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, in a local nursing home. Memorial service is at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, in Johnson's Funeral Home chapel.
Survivors include her daughter, Donna Mack of San Antonio; sons Brandon Baker of Lubbock and Bev Baker of Kingwood; mother Nellie Lumpkin of San Angelo; and sister Dorothy Clark of Eldorado.

Leona M. Baker, 71, of San Angelo passed away Monday, Nov. 23, 2009. Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, in Johnson's Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. James Mitchell officiating.
Leona was born on Oct. 21, 1938, in San Angelo to Clarence "Buddy" and Nellie (Haney) Burleson. She graduated from San Angelo High School in 1956 with honors. Leona was instrumental in establishing the "half-day work program" at San Angelo High School. She married Everett "E.C." Baker on Nov. 29,1957, in San Angelo, Texas. Leona worked for GTE for 35 years and retired from there in 1991. She continued to work for various companies until five years ago. Leona was a very loving mother and grandmother who was devoted to her family and we will dearly miss her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Buddy; and her husband, EVERETT "E. C." BAKER.
Leona is survived by her loving family - her children sons Brandon Baker and wife Mary of Lubbock, Bev Baker and wife Pam of Kingwood and daughter Donna Mack and husband Robert of San Antonio; mother Nellie Lumpkin of San Angelo; one sister who she dearly loved, Dorothy Clark of Eldorado; seven grandchildren; cousin Rueben Burleson and many special friends.
