Edgar Lee Burleson, 89, of Port Orchard died of Alzheimer's disease Feb. 17, 2002, at Port Orchard Care Center.
He had been a logger, Christmas tree farmer and private contractor in Kitsap County since 1950.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Rufus and Bertha Jane (Elder) Burleson; his first wife of 50 years, Gladys Irene (Dixon), on 10 Feb 1984, and a daughter, Yvonne Jo Hike Shea, in 1984.
Survivors: his wife, Regina (Hines) Phelps; a son, Richard "Dick"; 2 daughters, Dona Jane Adams and Dixie Rae Scahel; 2 stepsons, Michael and Steven Phelps; 4 stepdaughters, Mary Ann Barrett, Regina Metcalf, Delores Baldwin and Kelly Rogers; 26 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services: Evergreen Baptist Church in Port Orchard. Conducted by his grandson, Pastor Richard Lee "Rick" Burleson, Jr. "Amazing Grace" was sung by Rae Compton Burleson, his granddaughter-in-law. The eulogy was written by grandsons Richard Lee and Brian Edgar Burleson.
