Lena Belle Burleson Heard, 80, passed from labor to reward on Friday, May 21, 2010 after a brief, courageous, faith-filled battle with pancreatic cancer.

Lena was a member of First Baptist Church, San Marcos as a youth and of Morning Star Baptist Church, Bloomington as an adult.

Lena was a woman of faith, true kindness, generosity and love.

"Death has been swallowed by Victory. Where, O death is your victory? Where, O death is your sting?"

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 16:54-58.
