Lena Belle Burleson Heard, 80, passed from labor to reward on Friday, May 21, 2010 after a brief, courageous, faith-filled battle with pancreatic cancer.

Her five grandchildren, whom she cherished like precious jewels, are Jason H. Holloman and wife Sharrisse of Rosenberg; Brianna Y. Clark of Waco; Amber R. Heard of Port Lavaca; Lena S. Clark of Nacogdoches and Kaitlyn F. Heard of Port Lavaca.

She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews who cherished her deeply for her loving kindness and genuine concern for their well being.

Lena was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers Vernon and Robert Burleson, infant daughter, DeAnn Heard and her beloved son David H. Heard.

The family wishes to acknowledge her many wonderful friends and neighbors who called, visited and prayed for her.

"Death has been swallowed by Victory. Where, O death is your victory? Where, O death is your sting?"

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 16:54-58.

Grace Funeral Home, (361) 573-4341, 2401 Houston Highway, Victoria, in charge of arrangements.
