DEATH CALLS WORTHY MAN Frank Burks of Arbon, Was Loved and Respected by His Neighbors In the death of Frank Burks, who was 42 years of age, Oneida county lost a valuable citizen. Frank Burks and his brother, Walter, came from Dayton, Washington, to Arbon eight years ago. Walter's wife died about four years ago and he left for California. Frank Burks has lived in Arbon for the past eight years and had one of the best kept farms in the Arbon section. About three weeks ago he became ill with spotted fever and in spite of all assistance, he passed away Monday evening. Before he passed away, his brother, Melvin Burks, Mrs. Patrick and Mrs. Temple, mother and sister of Mrs. Frank Burks all were at his beside at the time of his passing away. The body was taken to Dayton, Washington for burial. Senator R Burks J Harding and son Ben took Mrs Burks and her five children and the other relatives to Downey Wednesday. Mrs. Burks expressed her sincere thanks to the people of Arbon and Malad for their kindnesses and assistnace. Never before had she known that people could be so kind and considerate. Paul Smith of Arbon, an old friend and neighbor of Frank, was with him during his illness, offering such service as only a true friend and neighbor can. The high esteem in which Frank Burks was held in Arbon, is indicated by the following written by MRs. Nunnelley, The Enterprise correspondent at Arbon: "Dark gloom fell on this part of Oneida county also of Power county when the news was sent out from Malad early Tuesday morning: 'Frank Burks is dead; died at 11:30 pm Monday' While the news was expected, yet we wished that so good a man, neighbor, father and husband could win in the fight for life and be restored to health, to be among us for many years yet to come. The English language is inadequate to express the high esteem in which he was held. A fine man in every way, honest, upright, and dependable at all times. We know God knows best and every cloud has a silver lining yet in this dark hour we know the brightness is invisable. He leaves a wife and six children to grope in sadness awaiting the time when the cloud shall be dispelled and they may be united again. His father, mother, and six children are left behind to grieve over the loss. The family have the great sympanthy of all the people who knew them. Mr. Burks and his wife were moved into town where medical aid was secured and while among so many strangers they were rendered every assistance which could be offered, which was thoroughly appreciated by Mr and Mrs. Burks and his friends. His brother came from Washington, also Mrs. Burks' mother and sister, to be at his bedside, but the battle raged too hard and Death marched away victorious. --Malad Idaho, Enterprise.
