Vera W. Bell, 75, of Rt. 1, Colfax, died at 6:02 pm Tuesday in Home Hospital at Lafayette after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Bell was a farm wife and worked for 15 years for Wright's hardware at Colfax. She was a 1933 graduate of Waynetown High School.
She was a member of Clinton County Extension Homemakers, Montgomery County Mothers of Twins Club, United Methodist Women and Streamline Royal Rover RV Club International. She attended Colfax United Methodist Church. Prior to moving to Colfax she lived at Wallace, Waynetown and other towns in Montgomery County.
She was born July 5, 1914, in Montgomery County to Charles and Christine Gooding Burks. She married Joseph J. Bell on Dec. 24, 1935, at Greencastle. He survivies.
Also surviving are two sons, Loyal of Crawfordsville and Doyal of Colfax; a daughter, Sandra K. Linkimer of Hamilton Square, NJ; three sisters, Ruth Harper Link of Crawfordsville, Opal Miles of New Richmond and Margaret Baker of Wallace; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Hershell Burks, and a sister, Lula Katherine Norman Baldwin.
Services are scheduled for 2:30 pm Friday in the Eller-Weston Funeral Home at Colfax with the Rev. Joseph Wagner officiating. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call 5-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson Awareness Association, 721 Sherwood Drive, Indianapolis or through the funeral home.
