Osby Burks Sr., 83, of Chattanooga, TN passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2010, in a local hospital.
He retired from Rock Tenn Paper Mill and was a member of St. Matthews Primitive Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mel and Daisy Burks; sons, Eugene, Donnie and James; daughters, Bertha, Hazel and Katie.
Survivors: wife, Winfred Burks; sons, Melvin (Louise) Burks, of Madison, Ala., Osby (Katie) Burks Jr., George (Dorothy) Burks, both of Chattanooga, John (Nina) Burks, of Huntsville, Ala., Lee Burks, Steve Burks, Richard Burks and Christopher Byrd, all of Chattanooga; daughters, Ernestine Burks, of Rossville, Mary Burks, of Chattanooga, Sharon Burks, of Panama City, Fla., Quentrenisha Byrd, Natasha Byrd, Nikki Byrd and Brittany Burks, all of Chattanooga; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, several other relatives and friends.
Funeral: at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Clyde Sanderfer officiating.
Burial: Burks Cemetery in Harvest, Ala.
Visitation: from 7-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
