UPPER SANDUSKY, Ohio - Mary L. Coppler, 88, formerly of Carey, Ohio, died at 11:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, at Wyandot Manor, where she had been a resident for 3 1/2 years.

She was born on March 28, 1915, in Wyandot County, Ohio, to William F. and Alvena (Richardson) Burke. She married McClellan "Mack" Coppler on March 12, 1939, in Sycamore. He survives.

She was a homemaker and a member of the West Independence United Methodist Church, West Independence, Ohio. She sang in the church choir and was a member of the Christian Missionary Society and the Carey Band Mothers.

Surviving are her children, Mrs. Jack L. (Carol Ann) Barker, Hillsdale, Mich., Mrs. J. Jerome (Norma C.) Begley, Westfield, Mass., Mark E. (Peggy A.) Coppler, Roann, William C. (Jeanne M.) Coppler, Carey, Ohio, and Mrs. Ronald D. (Marlene L.) Christopher, West Palm Beach, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A brother and five sisters are deceased.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the West Independence United Methodist Church, West Independence, Ohio. The Rev. Gary Carlson will officiate. Burial will be in the Old Mission Cemetery, Upper Sandusky, Ohio.

Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, Ohio, and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.

Preferred memorials are to the Dorcas Carey Public Library or the church music department, in care of the funeral home.
