Funeral Rites For Mrs. Burks Are Held Here
Funeral services were to be held here this afternoon at 4 o'clock for Mrs.W.H. Burks, 72, a former Tylerite who died at her home in Washington, D.C., Friday following a week's illness of heart trouble. The body was shipped by train and arrived before noon Monday.
The services were to be held at her daughter's home, Mrs. T.L. Burks, 709 West Irwin Street with interment following in the Rose Hill Burial Park. Dr. C.M. Raby and Dr. W.L. Bryant were to officiate and Burks-Walker Undertaking company were to have charge.
Mrs. W.H. Burks was born in Mt. Etna, Indiana, December 29, 1859. During her early life she moved to Bullard and later to Tyler before moving to Washington where she had made her home for the past several years. She was a devout member of the Methodist church.
Surviving her are three daughters. Mrs. T.L. Burks of Tyler; Mrs. Albon Harrison of Palestine and Mrs. Paul Rapp of Washington, D.C.; two son, C.A. Burks and B.B. Burks both of Bullard.
Grandsons of the deceased Louie, Logan, Gordon and Wayne Burks were to be pallbearers.
A number of out-of-town friends and relatives were here to attend the last rites.
