Mary Jo Raber, of Peru, went home to be with the Lord at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, August 21, 2015. She was born in Peru, IN the daughter of W. B. and Dorothy Robertson Burkhart.

On April 21, 1962 she married Donald E. Raber, who preceded her in death on August 23, 1975.

After graduation from Peru High School, she worked at Sears, Roebuck & Co. in Peru. Being a homemaker several years and raising her daughters, she was back in the work force and worked in various jobs. She is retired from Heraeus Electro-Nite.

She has been a member of the Safety Patrol at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway since 1981, retiring after 30 years of service in 2010. Most recently, she worked at American Stationary.

A member of the Foursquare Gospel Chapel of Praise, she was active in various activities at the church.

She loved her family and liked sewing, gardening, walking, traveling and her home.

Surviving are her two daughters, Lauri Sutterfield and her husband Bob of Campbell, CA and Debbie Newton and her husband Dan of Foley, AL; six grandchildren, Andy, Matt and Wren Sutterfield, Chris Hinders and his wife Vivian and daughter Ava, Chad Hinders and his fiancée Jennifer Hoskins and son Brody and Chloe Hinders; a sister, Nancy Geiselman and her husband Max of Ft. Wayne, IN; a brother, John Burkhart and his wife Jackie of Auburn, IN; and a sister-in-law, Jane Raber of Cincinnati, OH. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
