Alice Remick Burke, 99, died at the Gold Leaf Nursing Home on Sunday, May 23, 1993. She was born in Seattle on July 7, 1893 the eldest child of Carroll and Grace (Ingalls) Remick.
She graduated from Stadium High School in Tacoma and received her teaching ceertificate from the Ellensburg Normal School. She taught at the Lower Naneum School until her marriage to J.T. Burke in 1913. After selling their ranch in the Naneum, the Burkes moved to the Swauk in 1943. Mrs. Burke was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Country Mothers club and Jolly Neighbors.
She held a lifelong interest in gardening and enjoyed sharing her plants and flowers with her friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her husband J.T. Burke, one daughter Charlotte, one grandson John, her sister Grace and brother Bob Remick. She is survived by her sons, James T. Burke of Ellensburg and Pat Burke of the Swauk area; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 25, 1993 at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Ellensburg.
