Alice S. Brannock, 89, of Cambridge passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Dorchester General Hospital. She was born in Essex on October 13, 1922 and was a daughter of the late William and Phyrn Fetter Burke.
She attended schools in the Linkwood area and graduated from the 7th grade at the Old Seminary in Cambridge. At the age of 13, she went to work at Phillips Packing Company and over the years she worked at various shirt factories, later went to work at Western Printing Company and retired at the age of 65 from Airpax. After she retired, she did some sewing for different people until her eye sight failed. On April 25, 1942 she married Howard P. "Joe" Brannock and he passed away on July 31, 1980. Mrs. Brannock attended St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter Sylvia Windsor of Cambridge, a son Randall P. Brannock and his wife Linda of Salisbury, a granddaughter Christina Ennis and her husband Brian of Salisbury, a great granddaughter Leilani Eckert also of Salisbury and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Brannock is preceded in death by three sisters Edna Burke, Bertha Bangert, Jessie Ballantine and a brother Maurice Burke.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Randall T. Blackmon officiating. Interment will follow at East New Market Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
