Belva Joyce Burke Berry, 74, of Grayson, KY., passed from death to eternal life on August 14, 2012, at Kings Daughter Medical Center in Ashland, KY.
She was born September 27, 1937, in Denton, KY., a daughter of the late Herbert and Charity McWhorter Burke.
Joyce was employed by the Carter County Board of Education and served as secretary of Prichard High and Elementary School for 30 years. She became a Christian in August 1970 and was a member of the body of Christ at the First Church of Christ in Grayson. She was secretary of her Sunday School Class (Loyal Daughters) for 20 years and assisted the church secretary in the office for several years. She was past Matron of Grayson O.E.S. Chapter # 10.
Joyce loved her family and enjoyed having them in on holidays, working in her landscape, going for walks and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by brothers, John Burke and Everett Burke and sisters, Pearl Swartzwelder, Dorothy Farmer, Hattie James and Nora Keyes.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Clifford Berry of Grayson, two sons, Mike (Merry) Berry of Grayson and Tim Berry of Ashland, one granddaughter, Heather Berry of Grayson, one grandson, Matt Berry of Grayson, one sister, Virginia Waggoner of Grayson, one brother, Donald Burke of Grayson, several nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers in law, and sisters in law, and a host of friends whom she hopes to see in Heaven.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 18, 2012, at the Malone Funeral Home in Grayson with Phil LeMaster, officiating. Burial will be in the East Carter County Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
