MARSEILLES — Daniel Joseph "Dobie" Burke, 58, of Marseilles, passed away Friday, April 30, at his home.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 3, at St. Columba Church in Ottawa, with the Rev. Ray Guthrie officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 2, at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery.
Danny was born July 11, 1951, in Ottawa, to Daniel J. and Helen (Mitchell) Burke. He married Pattie Arnold May 21, 1977, in Warrenville. He was a charter member of the River Rats, a member of St. Patrick's Church and an Electrician for 37 years at Caterpillar in Aurora.
Danny was very active in his children's lives. He was a Den Leader for both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and also coached T-Ball and Little League for Rutland Grade School during his children's school years.
Danny was a loving husband, compassionate father and a loyal, gentle friend. Danny touched so many lives with his love. He will be truly missed forever.
He is survived by his wife, Pattie of Marseilles; his father, Daniel (Beverly) Burke of Ottawa; two sons, Daniel "Joe" (Bridget Brandt) of Morris and Bryan Burke of Ottawa; one daughter, Kelley Burke of Ottawa; two brothers, Kevin of Ottawa and Tim (Cyndi Gavin) of Naperville; and three sisters, Karen Thumm of Ottawa, Patty (Julie McClone) Burke of Loves Park and Laura (Eric) Jensen of Utica.
Danny was preceded in death by an infant son, Paul Michael; and his mother, Helen Burke.
