DIED DURING NIGHT
Heart Disease Causes Sudden Demise of Patrick F. Burke at His Home on 32 Baker Street
Patrick F. Burke, 32 Baker St, was found dead in bed this morning about 5 o'clock. His death was entirely unexpected as he retired Friday night, at his usual hour apparently as well as he has been for the past few days and it is not known that he made any outcry or call for assistance during the night. Mr. Burke was well and favorably known to the people of this city, where he has lived nearly all of his life, coming here from Ireland when a mere boy.
For over 20 years he was employed by the late James Hanna in the coal business and a little over 2 years ago, he embarked in the coal and wood business for himself at 97 Water St. By his industry and energy, he had built up a large business which was constantly increasing. The last two days he had not been feeling very well, but was not ill enough to consider the attention of a doctor necessary. He was at his office Friday evening for a short time. The finding of his lifeless body, this morning, was a great shock to his wife and children and they have the sympathy of a multitude of friends in their great bereavement.
Associate Medical Examiner A.H. Pierce of Leominster viewed the body and announced heart disease as the cause of death.
Mr. Burke was born in Ireland on April 11, 1867, son of John and Margaret Burke. he is survived by his wife, two children, Grace and Margaret and one sister, Mrs. Nora Hayes, 9 Fulton St. He was a member of Div. 2, A.O.H., Court City of Fitchburg, Foresters of America, and the Sheridn Club and took a prominent part in all their proceedings.
The deceased is survived by a father, mother and two brothers and three sisters living in Ireland and one sister living in Philadelphia.
The funeral will be held Monday morning with a high mass of requiem celebrated at St. Bernard's Church at 9 o'clock. Interment will be in St. Bernard's cemetery
