Alice Burke Kent, a former McMinnville, Sheridan and Lafayette resident, died Aug. 15, 2000, in Napa, Calif. She was 95.
A memorial service and reception will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 30 in the chapel of Evergreen-Washelli Cemetery, Seattle. Inurnment will be in the cemetery.
She was born in a farmhouse near Woodland, Wash., on Sept. 27, 1904. After graduating from high school, she was a teacher for two years. She then attended Oregon State University in Corvallis and a business school in Portland. She worked for Beaver Insurance Co. before marrying.
She and Kenneth Kent were married Aug. 26, 1926.
After her husband's death in 1959, she lived in Sheridan with a sister until the mid-1990s. She then moved to a care home in Lafayette before moving to California in 1995. Mrs. Kent loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed reading, playing bridge, playing the piano and gardening.
Survivors include a brother, Ted Burke of La Center, Wash.; three grandchildren;and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert, in 1995.
Arrangements were under the direction of Treadway & Wigger Funeral Home, Napa.
