ELIZABETH, Ill. -- Erma Nell Brandt, 79, of Elizabeth, died Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, at the Elizabeth Nursing Facility.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Elizabeth, with the Rev. Harvey Nicholson officiating. Burial will be in the Elizabeth Cemetery. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. The Law-Jones Funeral Home, Elizabeth, is in charge of arrangements.

She was born on April 15, 1930, in Des Moines, daughter of Elmer and Bonnie Mae (Saunders) Burk. She attended Des Moines area schools.

She married Cletus Charles Brandt on Dec. 31, 1946, in Schapville; he preceded her in death on March 15, 1995.

Erma was employed by the Amerock Corporation in Machesney Park, for nine years. She was a top award-winning Avon saleswoman for more than 30 years.

Erma was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Elizabeth, and a former member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Machesney Park.

She enjoyed playing bingo, euchre and shopping. She loved animals, especially raccoons, which she collected. Most of all, Erma cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are three daughters, Linda (Bob) Schuepbach and Bonnie (Phil) Johnson, both of Machesney Park, and Cindy Dunn, of Hanover; six grandchildren, Bobbie Camacho, Jared Schuepbach, Tad (Cassie) Schuepbach, Crissa (Chris) Lord, Phillip B. Johnson and Charles P. Johnson; four great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Camacho and Carson, Cailyn and Camden Lord; two brothers, Larry Burk, of Des Moines, and Leon Burk, of Portland, Ore.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters; and a son-in-law, Danny Dunn.
