Mrs. Burgin, who was 71, died in her sleep during the early morning hours of Saturday from a heart attack. She had had a heart weakness for the past few years, but was not ill and her passing was unexpected. She had been a resident of Spencer for the past eight years.
Music at the service included two favorite hymns, "The Old Rugged Cross," and "Nearer My God to Thee" sung by Mrs. Dwight Hemphill with Mrs. Jim Anderson as accompanist. George Wallace and Severin Askeland ushered at the church. Interment was made in Milford cemetery beside the body of her husband. Pall bearers were Jim Moyer of Terril, Don Roberts of Emmetsburg, Wesley Burgin, Stanley Burgin, Harold Smith and Byron Thelen.
Isabelle (Prior) Burgin, daughter of Henry and Nettie Prior, was born Dec. 25, 1883, at Lancaster, Wis., and died at her home in Spencer, Iowa, May 7, 1955, at the age of 71 years, 4 months and 12 days. She was married to John L. Burgin of Milford Nov. 23, 1901, at Sioux Falls and they established their first home in Sioux Falls where they lived about a year before coming to Milford. Mr. and Mrs. Burgin lived in Milford all the rest of the years of their marriage. Mr. Burgin preceded his wife in death in 1933. Three children were born to this union, Ralph and Mrs. Guy (Faye) Smith, of Milford and Mrs. Glen (Irene) Goodwin, of Spencer, all of whom survive. Also surviving are 14 grandchild and 3 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Burgin was preceded in death by her parents and by her only brother, Ernest Prior, of Estherville , who died five years ago.
Those attending the funeral from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Pete Burgin and Mrs. and Mrs. Ray C. Long, all of Marion; Ernest Prior and Mrs. Vincent Donahue, both of Emmetsburg, and Mrs. Harold Yarnes of Spirit Lake.
