Alfred Burghardt, 82, of Evansville passed away Sunday, April 3, 2011, at his home.
He was a life member and past commander of VFW Post #114 and served in the US Navy and Air Force during WWII and Korea.
Alfred was a family man and enjoyed fishing. He was a member of the Evansville Masonic Lodge #64 and No Ruz Grotto.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Alfred's family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Christopher Braden and Southern Care Hospice.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wendeline and Eva Burghardt.
Alfred is survived by his wife of nine years, Kay Burghardt; son, Mike Burghardt (Patty) of Evansville; step-daughter, Robin Lynn of Burbank, CA; granddaughter, Laura Lukeman (Steve) of Evansville; great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Jordan; sister, Sally Copel; brothers, John and Gene Burghardt.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Alexander North Chapel, officiated by Pastor Alan Shelby with entombment at Oak Hill Cemetery.
The Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club will perform a graveside military rite. Friends may visit Wednesday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at Alexander North Chapel and on Thursday at 10:00 AM until service time.
