Theresa J. Ansel, age 83 of Zanesville, OH died 5:05 AM, Monday, July 2, 2018 at Genesis Morrison House Hospice in Zanesville.

She was born Thursday, January 24, 1935 in Zanesville, the daughter of James Burgess and Alice Marie (McLaughlin) Burgess.

She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and a graduate of Rosecrans High School. Theresa was a past member of the Girl Scout Glee Club, Good Samaritan Charity Circle, and Changing Season Garden Club. She was a vocalist for the St. Thomas Irish Shows, Minstrels and several local bands. Theresa was the first Red Cross Blood Service Director for Muskingum, Morgan & Perry Counties. She enjoyed home decorating.

Theresa is survived by two sons: Douglas Jay Ansel and Mark Allen (Molly) Ansel both of Zanesville; three grandchildren: Laura, Jason & Jennifer; five great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Theresa was preceded in death by three sisters: Dorothy Fritz, Mary Lear and Alice Pitcock; four brothers: Leo, Raymond, Jim & Norbert Burgess and the father of her children: Jay D. Ansel.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity on one's choice in Theresa's memory.

A Memorial Mass was held 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Saint Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. Donald Franks as celebrant.
