Sharon L. "Sherry" Angeles, 69, a Garden City resident since 1967, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
She was born June 6, 1938, in Lebanon, to Mac and Mary Kindred Burgess. She graduated from Lebanon High School. After moving to Scott City, she worked as a secretary for Scott City Co-op and Crossland's Trucking.
On June 10, 1967, she married Chris L. Angeles in Garden City. They owned and operated Chris's Steak House and the Hacienda Restaurant. Mrs. Angeles was a member of St. Thomas' Episcopal Church of Garden City and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. Her special interests included canning, sewing, gardening, going to garage sales, traveling and cooking family dinners.
In addition to her husband, survivors include three sons, Kelly Lee Hackerott of Haven, Michael J. Angeles of Scott City, and Kent Louis Angeles of Lyndon; two daughters, Shelly Ann Hanks of Placerville, Calif., and Lori Lynn Becker of Garden City; her mother, Mary Burgess Scott of Smith Center; a brother, Jerry Burgess of Concordia; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Joe Burgess.
Funeral was at St. Thomas' Episcopal Church, Garden City, with the Rev. Canon F. David Titus officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.
