Mrs. Evelyn Burgess Lawson, age 92, of 1809 Main St., Buffalo, widow of Manning Lawson, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, August 24, 2015.

Mrs. Lawson was born in Spartanburg, December 28, 1922, a daughter of the late Forest Manuel Burgess and Emeline Self Burgess. She was a retired textile worker and was formerly employed with Torrington Co. Mrs. Lawson was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church where she was a member of the TEL Sunday School Class and the WMU Circle #3. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She is survived by a granddaughter, Lynne Lawson Fugate and husband M. Scott of Knoxville, TN; a grandson-in-law, Hal Reeves of Marietta, GA; three sisters-in-law, Livia Burgess, Ruth Lawson and Bernice Lawson all of Union; five great-grandchildren, W. Henley Fugate, Patrick Lawson Fugate, Lawson G. Reeves, Avery D. Reeves, and Carolina M. Reeves and a host of special nieces, nephews and friends. Mrs. Lawson was predeceased by a son, Douglas C. Lawson, a granddaughter, Leigh Reeves and five brothers, Toy Burgess, Howard Burgess, Wilbur Burgess, Manuel Burgess and Lawrence Burgess.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Friday, August 28, 2015 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Lynn Ford and Rev. Tim Anderson. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Wayne Heatherly, Chris Hicks, Lance Ratliff, Shane Mathis, Tim Rodgers and Gerald Burgess.

Honorary pallbearers will be W. Henley Fugate, Terry Burgess, Alvin Lancaster, Jamie Smith, Jerry Burgess, R.D. Murphy, Bruce Betenbaugh, Tyler Lancaster and Kenny Proctor. Member of the WMU Circle #3 and the TEL Sunday School Class are asked to sit in a group.

Visitation will be held from 1:30 until 2:45 PM Friday at the funeral home prior to the services.
